Cebu City, Cebu – On November 8, 2023, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. – Assessment, Certification and Accreditation Services (CCCI-ACAS) launched a successful series of visits to four companies and two educational institutions in MetroCebu. The purpose of these visits was to explore potential partnerships for the implementation of Dual Education and Training (DET) programs while aiming to provide insights into the cost and benefits of DET within the company’s operations and in the regional labor market.

Significantly, the visits helped in the in-depth consultation of high-demand and hard-to-fill skills required in the seafood processing industry. This is crucial in the development of new job profiles that will soon be awarded to learners who will pass the assessment of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.

During the visits, CCCI-ACAS through the FISH Visayas Project met with HJR International Corporation, AKAI Foods, Inc., Asian Wave Seafood Corp., and It’s One Export Import International. The educational institutions visited were KLN Skills and Management Training and Assessment Center, Inc., and the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise Technical Institute, Inc. The CCCI-ACAS team was led by Ms. Joy Lorena Amador-Segismar, CCCI’s Executive Director, and accompanied by Ms. Karen Joy Autor, CCCI’s FISH Visayas Project Coordinator, and Mr. Bienvinido Canangga, Jr., CCCI-ACAS II Officer, and Field Officer for Mactan Islands. Mr. Bryan Araneta, Focal for Skills Development of the FISH Visayas Project, AFOS Foundation also joined the visits and encouraged potential partners to adopt the framework.

Following this initiative, CCCI-ACAS will officially formalize agreements with DET partners through a MOA Signing Ceremony. Subsequently, the finalization of job profiles, in-company trainers’ training, and the deployment of 100 learners to respective companies for in-company training will take place.

In essence, the visits were instrumental in fostering potential partnerships, understanding the dynamics of DET, and identifying key skills for the seafood processing industry. The commitment of CCCI to workforce development remains unwavering, ensuring the effective implementation of in-company training programs in collaboration with industry and academic partners.

CCCI-ACAS’s Visits and Partnership Building to Metro Cebu Seafood Processing Companies and Academe aspires to achieve Result Area 2: Dual Training in Fisheries of the FISH Visayas Project.
