AFOS Foundation Receives a Citation from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Grand Chamber Awards 2023

Cebu City, Cebu – In a meaningful ceremony held on November 29, 2023, the AFOS Foundation was bestowed with a special citation by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. during the Grand Chamber Awards and Fellowship Night.

The distinguished plaque of recognition was presented to AFOS Foundation in acknowledgment of its remarkable contribution and unwavering commitment to enhancing the roles of Business Membership Organizations in Central Visayas. Notably, AFOS Foundation collaborated with CCCI on transformative initiatives such as the Fostering Inclusive and Sustainable Habitats (FISH) Visayas program. This initiative aimed to uplift the economic circumstances of fisheries-dependent families and MSMEs along the fisheries and related food value chains. The partnership successfully bridged investments from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Significantly, AFOS Foundation played a key role in the successful completion of technical cooperation projects, including Working for the Enhancement of Chambers, Associations, and Networks (WECAN) in 2009, Optimizing and Upscaling Roles in the Food Supply Chain (OURFOOD) in 2013, and the K to 12 PLUS Project in 2016. The latter institutionalized the Assessment, Certification, and Accreditation Services (ACAS), laying the foundation for international recognition and awards.

The foundation’s commitment to excellence was further exemplified by its adherence to the industry-academe dual education and training based on Germany’s Dual Training System model. This innovative approach not only garnered acclaim locally but also received recognition from the International Chambers of Commerce and the World Chambers Confederation during the summer of 2019 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The special citation from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry underscores AFOS Foundation’s outstanding leadership and impactful contributions, solidifying its position as a beacon of excellence in fostering positive change in the central region of the Philippines.
