FISH Visayas Project Aligns Interventions in Resource Protection with Bohol Coastal Resource Management Officers

Tagbilaran City, Bohol – On March 07, 2024, AFOS Foundation and the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry join the Coastal Resource Management Officers Meeting to align activities among various government agencies and non-government organizations for enhanced efficacy in implementing interventions towards resource protection. Key representatives from the local and provincial levels presented their plans for the year 2024.
Significantly for the FISH Visayas Project, the meeting transpired to potential collaborations in the conduct of the Marine Protected Area (MPA) Management Effectiveness Assessment Tool (MEAT) with the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO). The conduct of the MEAT aims to establish model sites in each partner LGU in Bohol, namely; the local government units of Tagbilaran, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, Ubay and Alburquerque.
Meanwhile, in a stride to achieving project targets, the CRM officers suggest exploring technologies for coral rehabilitation and mangrove nursery for Pres. Carlos P. Garcia. Such intervention aims to complete the remaining 6.8 out of the 10 hectares of rehabilitated ecosystems in Central Visayas, to be supported by the FISH Visayas Project.
Present to share and discuss their respective plans for the year 2024 are key representatives from the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Maritime Group, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, AFOS Foundation, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, and the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office. Key representatives from various local government units were also present.
