La Libertad, Negros Oriental – Taking a meaningful step to improve the organizational effectiveness of people’s organizations, 115 members of BUGSAY Mangingisda Chapters completed a training program focused on strengthening organizational values from April 17 to 19, 2024.
Through the FISH Visayas Project, the training program provided a valuable platform for PO members to deepen their understanding of the roles and responsibilities outlined in their respective association bylaws. The program also laid a strong foundation for the development of actionable plans aimed at integrating organizational values into daily work practices.
The program employed a multifaceted approach, incorporating two key methodologies. Participants benefitted from a values formation lecture, and an engaging focus group discussion to identify and propose plans for enhancing organizational culture and communication. This interactive process allowed for the exchange of diverse viewpoints and backgrounds, enriching the overall organizational culture.
Significantly, the success of the program was made possible through collaborative efforts between FISH Visayas Project Partners: the DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative, LGU La Libertad, and AFOS Foundation. Notable facilitators from DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative included Mr. Richie Ordoñez, Business Development Services Officer; Mr. Gerald Grancapal, Member Relations and Development Officer; Mr. Violeto Romano, Business Development Specialist; Mr. Roque Baricar, Membership and Services Officer; and Mr. Angelo Silva, FISH Visayas Project Field Officer for Negros Oriental.
In essence, this training represents a key step in the ongoing commitment of the FISH Visayas Project to strengthen the organizational development of partner People’s Organizations, fostering sustainable growth and empowerment within the fishing community.
